Support Local Rec Ball

Travel ball is not the right call for every family, and it is never the place to start. These are the rec leagues we know of across the Hills.

Why we list them

A good rec league is worth more to us than a signup

We want kids in the Black Hills playing more baseball, not the same kids playing it somewhere else.

Nearly every player on a Canyon Lakers roster learned the game in rec ball, and most of them are on a rec roster the same spring they are on ours. If the leagues below shrink, our 9U team in four years has nobody to draw from. That is the plain arithmetic of it, and it is why this page exists.

So if you are reading the rest of this site and quietly thinking your eight-year-old is not ready for weekend tournaments in another state — good. Start here instead. We would rather point you somewhere right than take a deposit for somewhere wrong.

None of these leagues is affiliated with Canyon Lakers Baseball, and none of them endorses us. We list them because families ask where else to look, and because a healthy league is good for everybody who plays in the Hills.

Not sure which one?

Rec leagues are drawn by where you live, so the right one usually comes down to your address and sometimes your school. Each league’s own site is the place to check that — and they are the only ones who can tell you for certain.

If you are stuck, and we will do our best to point you at the right board.

The leagues

Rec baseball across the Black Hills

Grouped roughly by where they play, then listed alphabetically. The line under each one is a rough sense of area, not a boundary — only the league can tell you whether your address is theirs, and each link goes to their own site, where boundaries, age groups and registration dates live.

Tell us and we will add it

This list was put together by searching, not by asking. If your league is not on it, is described wrongly, or would rather not be listed at all, say so and we will fix it the same week.

Roster spots are limited

Play for the Lakers in 2027

Tryouts run in January, and families can join later in the season when a roster spot and the schedule both work. Bring a bat, glove, cleats and a water bottle — we handle the rest.
